Farewell

the nothing man's lips freeze,
the edges sink lower
this is all a terrible dream
to have woken into
I am unseen light
setting this sky afire
into the night
still,
they need and they take
until what's left of his fervor
spills into the stars

the bite waits to catch them
groping the dark
they fell,
and devoured a nothing man
who carried an invisible light
for the whole world to swallow
