Stewart Edward White

I ran across a couple of books that I had read a few years ago, but I found it hard to digest all the information in the pages of these books in only one reading. These books, in my opinion, are the most in depth and insightful glimpse into life after death I have ever read, and I was surprised to find out they were written nearly 70 years ago - truly ahead of their time and the New Age psycho-babble movement. These books are not only about life after death, but our relationship to the spiritual world through the physical world.

The books are called The Unobstructed Universe and Across the Unknown by Stewart Edward White. Luckily I found them as e-books from Project Gutenburg of Australia.

Excerpt on faith from Nietzsche : The Antichrist

Preface to The Antichrist -

This book belongs to the most rare of men. Perhaps not one of them is yet alive. It is possible that they may be among those who understand my "Zarathustra": how could I confound myself with those who are now sprouting ears?--First the day after tomorrow must come for me. Some men are born posthumously.

The conditions under which any one understands me, and necessarily understands me--I know them only too well. Even to endure my seriousness, my passion, he must carry intellectual integrity to the verge of hardness. He must be accustomed to living on mountain tops--and to looking upon the wretched gabble of politics and nationalism as beneath him. He must have become indifferent; he must never ask of the truth whether it brings profit to him or a fatality to him... He must have an inclination, born of strength, for questions that no one has the courage for; the courage for the forbidden; predestination for the labyrinth. The experience of seven solitudes. New ears for new music. New eyes for what is most distant. A new conscience for truths that have hitherto remained unheard. And the will to economize in the grand manner--to hold together his strength, his enthusiasm...Reverence for self; love of self; absolute freedom of self.....

Very well, then! of that sort only are my readers, my true readers, my readers foreordained: of what account are the rest?--The rest are merely humanity.--One must make one's self superior to humanity, in power, in loftiness of soul,--in contempt.

FRIEDRICH W. NIETZSCHE.

Excerpt on faith in Chapter Nine
-
The full book can be found here.

Upon this theological instinct I make war: I find the tracks of it everywhere. Whoever has theological blood in his veins is shifty and dishonourable in all things. The pathetic thing that grows out of this condition is called faith: in other words, closing one's eyes upon one's self once for all, to avoid suffering the sight of incurable falsehood. People erect a concept of morality, of virtue, of holiness upon this false view of all things; they ground good conscience upon faulty vision; they argue that no other sort of vision has value any more, once they have made theirs sacrosanct with the names of "God," "salvation" and "eternity."

I unearth this theological instinct in all directions: it is the most widespread and the most subterranean form of falsehood to be found on earth. Whatever a theologian regards as true must be false: there you have almost a criterion of truth. His profound instinct of self-preservation stands against truth ever coming into honour in any way, or even getting stated. Wherever the influence of theologians is felt there is a transvaluation of values, and the concepts "true" and "false" are forced to change places: what ever is most damaging to life is there called "true," and whatever exalts it, intensifies it, approves it, justifies it and makes it triumphant is there called "false."...

When theologians, working through the "consciences" of princes (or of peoples--), stretch out their hands for power, there is never any doubt as to the fundamental issue: the will to make an end, the nihilistic will exerts that power...

We are a Deep Conversation

What am I,
but you
searching for me
in the setting sun
and redwood trees
through snowy fields,
philosophies
grown in recess
the deep, dark secrets
hidden from reach

I am you
and you are me
linked by the loved
and lost
prizes of reverie

We are a deep conversation
of wave after wave
of ups and down poetry
written to mend
solitary time
in deep contemplation

I am your eyes
when I see the spark
of your smile
cast doubt to the shadows
and light to the mantle

I am when I love
I'm not when I hate
you are when you love
what you can never replace

NIN: Right Where It Belongs

This is one of my favorite songs by NIN

"Right Where It Belongs"

See the animal in his cage that you built
Are you sure what side you're on?
Better not look him too closely in the eye
Are you sure what side of the glass you are on?
See the safety of the life you have built
Everything where it belongs
Feel the hollowness inside of your heart
And it's all
Right where it belongs

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?

What if all the world's inside of your head
Just creations of your own?
Your devils and your gods
All the living and the dead
And you're really all alone?
You can live in this illusion
You can choose to believe
You keep looking but you can't find the woods
While you're hiding in the trees

What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you used to know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?

A Vision

Tracking the crenature
through spectacles
fragmented into the subtle
pictures of the mosaic
Seeking to expand forever,
the message of coincidence,
and even inconsistent bits
of here and there
giving form to thought,
and thought a voice
for the kairos here
and yet to come

In a Trance - America 2008

I've been watching quite a few documentaries lately, juggling theories, and contemplating major issues that I have at least had some awareness of, but not knowing quite the extent of the problems until researching and digging into everything further.

I've come to one conclusion so far - we're in some deep shit in the not-to-distant future if we don't come up with solutions to the toxic self-destruction bred into existence by our consumerist, industrialist, and very much socialized concepts of this culture that turns around and preachs naitivity to these very same issues.

It seems as though we've been held in a trance that is quite difficult by itself, to actually break from and view as such because of it's grasp on our minds before they developed the skills to reason and think logically. We've become a culture largely engaged in double think, to hold two contradictory viewpoints, knowing they are such, and still believing both of them.

I know I'm polluting the air I breathe by driving my SUV, but I just can't imagine how else I would get to work.

We are clever and creative; hell, even an industrious people, so why is it that we have not come up the solutions to destroying ourselves, our air, our water, and every living thing around us? The horseless carriage has been around for over 100 years, and we've all known for quite some time that it's emissions are toxic.

Why haven't we found alternatives? There have been alternatives developed, but not accepted yet into the mainstream, so we continue on with our outdated, toxic habits, waiting for that day that fades away like the quality of our air, and essentially, ourselves.

Similar to the degradation of our own habitat, we watch our basic human rights erode under umbrella names, such as 'protection' and 'security' or even 'freedom'. Those who legislate to restrict our freedoms actually have the audacity to use the very same terms as their excuse of why it must be done.

The "Patriot" Act?

There is not thing patriotic about sacrificing our privacy and civil rights for freedom. Benjamin Franklin warned us of this saying, "He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security."

Why have we, as a majority, rejected the premise that this nation was born under, and brave men and women have fought and died for?

Why have we allowed a band of crooks and criminals into the highest offices of our now centralizing, federal government to wage immoral, illegal wars at home and abroad; to suspend habeas corpus, practice torture, spy on it's own citizens, and shift power from a now impotent congress, to the new branch of government called 'executive privilege' ?

Why do we allow our repugnant and cowardly president to pass the largest budget ($3.1 TRILLION) in the history of our nation, while in the midst of economic recession, an inflating dollar, and a housing and credit bubble- while the fed artificially inflates the dollar further by lowering interest rates and putting even more paper into circulation from thin air?

The federal bank (which is NOT federal) is not rescuing our economy by lowering interest rates, they are destroying our economy and the buying power of the dollar. Finally, some calls have been made for congressional hearings into why the chairman of the federal reserve is artificially inflating the dollar, though I doubt they'll go through with it. Businesses are even starting to accept euro's at some retail spots in NYC. The dollar is on a respirator and the fed is trying it's hardest to pull the plug.

With the devaluation of the dollar, foreign investors are now able to more effectively grab shares of american businesses, and even our infrastructure. Would you ever believe that we would be paying a businessman in China to use his toll road to get from your town into Los Angeles, Seattle, or San Fransisco? Large portions of America could be up for sale if we stumble as hard as we did in 1929, yet the president requests another $200 billion from congress this year to continue his war on decency and humanity, building military bases and infrastructure in foreign countries. What about our infrastructure you lunatic, wannabe cowboy? Our bridges are falling down at home. Our roads are being sold to foreign countries, one slice at a time. You've sold out America.

Where are we?

Where the hell are we as a nation? Why do we passively watch our tv's and listen to our ipods in a massive cultural trance while everything is bought and sold around us by men we've never even heard of? Why are we allowing people that are supposed to be representing us, be silenced by one branch of the government? When will we start viewing ourselves as human beings again, with God-given, unalienable rights instead of consumers- and whatever other labels the mainstream media can effectively tag us with.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is anything less than war declared on our own hearts and minds. Bush has said himself, that his goal is "to win the hearts and minds of the people," because it's so much easier to control the masses with your self-deprecating agendas when they already agree with you.

My Love

The pentacle states
we're grounded here
in lonely rains
Aces turn and beckon
to hold you near

Those big, brown eyes
are the calling card
imprinting your voice
into those thoughts and dreams
outlasting several years

Insidious depths we swim
for love, my dear

Storms brood and clear
while we wait,
holding conversations
delicate as a paper rose
while I insist
that all my heart
is for you to hold
